Boots, continued...

Sorry, just about lost that whole last post due to computer issues, so luckily was able to find it again and had to post quickly. So back to the plans...I can't do the two-night trip because I HAVE to be back here to watch the Super Bowl on Monday morning at 6:30, and I couldn't depend on being able to watch it on the trip because some of that time we would be traveling back to Hanoi. Speaking of the Super Bowl - I found a place to watch it! Thanks to the help of one of the owners from Australia, we found a place called Tracy's Pub and Grill online, which says they stream live American sports. They were nice enough to call them, and I talked to them, and am pretty sure they said they are showing it, and open at 6 am! I am also hoping to get a couple of people to come with me, but since it's so early, I don't think they will...unless I can find another American around here that cares to watch too! It's far enough away that I will have to take a taxi, but I don't care! GO PACK GO!!! Sounds like the Pack is favored, which is awesome:)
Tonight I think I will take in a water puppet show, which is one of the local Hanoi things to do, and isn't expensive. I have met so many people already, and they all have great advice for me as I start out on this journey. Greg from Boston has been traveling for 1 year and 10 months, with no plans to stop soon. He is heading to China next and hoping to find work there. Cath, I told him about how great teaching English is, and how easy it seems to be able to do. Eric from England is almost done with his 11-month trip, which is how long mine will likely be, and he says he is ready to go home. Sarah from Australia is on a break from University, and works to save up money so she can travel for about a month at a time, and is currently doing a month in Vietnam. I love the traveler mentality, and it is really cool to talk to everyone.

I've got the whole world in my hands :)

After I take in the Packers winning the Super Bowl, I am hoping to begin heading south that day. Right now, it sounds like prices are double the normal because of TET, so I will have to figure that out today as well. I have heard already about the gorgeous white sand beaches down south, and the warmer temps, and am very much looking forward to getting down there! I will probably not be able to post while in Ha Long Bay, but will do so the evening I get back. I will be thinking of everyone and wishing you could all be with me as I take in what looks to be a completely beautiful part of our world! Missing everyone!

  4. Hi Caroline,
What a brave young woman you are!!! I love reading about your experiences. Perhaps it will motivate me to be more adventurous alone. Somehow I don't think you'll be traveling alone for long. Where will you go next? Be safe...Cynthia (Jess' mom)
