Hoi An

This is just going to be a quick post, to let you know that I am alive and well! I really love Hoi An! It has a quaintness that I haven't yet experienced in Vietnam. The lanters light up the city at night, and I am super excited to enjoy it tonight since my English friend Dan has joined me here, so now I can stay out past dark (the Lonely Planet recommended not doing so if you are alone, so I obeyed last night)! It is very hard also not to buy some souveniers from all of the beautiful shops everywhere I turn! If this was my last country, instead of my first, I would be in trouble! I have also enjoyed some local cuisine, which I will write more about later. Just one more picture of some cute kids we came across today. They obviously are learning well from their parents, as after we took the picture of them, they said, "money?"

Well, it doesn't hurt to try, I guess:) Off to explore more. Yay for posting pics as I write about a place, huh? Eventually I will get the hang of it! Thanks for following:)

  3. Hi Caroline! This is Adrian...I'm Sarah's friend who stopped in Denver last year while driving across the country. I stayed with you guys for a few days. I had done a couple one year trips and we talked about traveling when I was there. I'm SOOOO HAPPY to see you're doing it!!! Awesome. This year will bring some amazing things your way!

I was in Hoi An last year. Awesome town! I strongly suggest renting a moped and traveling north about 15-20 km to some of the random beach towns. Crazy locals...very friendly and welcoming...also, you'll find much more beautiful beaches to hang out on. Congrats to you as you start your new Adventure. I'll be checking your blog daily!!

  6. As someone who has traveled alone, I can really appreciate what a great experience it can be. I have been following your posts, and think that Hoi An looks especially appealing. If you open a hostel there, sign me and Sherry up right away; we have talked about seeing Viet Nam some day. The lanterns photo at the top of this post is lovely. I'd give my eye teeth for a couple dosen of those for Ida Street....Liz Read

  7. Hello again! Your pictures are fabulous! I was just thinking what a great idea this blog is for all of us...not only just for all of us to stay in touch with you, but it's going to be so much fun for you to have it to look back on. BTW - I'm impressed you're learning to cook Vietnamese food. Maybe I can sign up for Caroline's cooking class when you get back! ;) I'm excited b/c Sarah and I connected today, and we're talking about coming to visit you together! Do you still think you'll be in Europe until July? I don't know if I can take off work until mid July, so you'll have to keep us posted on where you think you might be then. Anyway, I'm headed to bed. ...so glad to hear you are doing so well. Your trip sounds like an amazing adventure! I miss you tons! xoxo! -Cat
